Ford® and Motorcraft engineers have designed the AIS Severe Duty kit that is compatible with F-250-F550 Super Duty trucks and Excursions built after Jan. 1, 1998.
1998 and Early 99's require a different air intake hose. Ford® is the first to bring this off-highway technology to the diesel pickup truck market.
The new Motorcraft® 7.3L AIS (Air Induction System) Severe Duty Kit is more efficient than conventional air filters, providing similar performance of a heavy duty truck air filter.
In fact, the 7.3L AIS Severe Duty Kit has the same filter technology used in the M1 Abrams tank!

If the filter minder on your Severe Duty AIS Kit is showing air flow restriction then think about installing the
AIS FOAM FENDER SLEEVE:
The foam fender sleeve is used when it is desired to achieve better air flow using the AIS intake system. The sleeve is used when a 3-1/2" diameter hole is cut in the back side of the
AIS air box to make a seal to the fender opening. This allows for more air flow through the air box to accommodate vehicles which have performance modifications such as chips, programmers
and exhaust systems. This modification to the AIS intake can help to lower EGTs, increase performance and mileage.
