Switching your engine off after a heavy haul when the exhaust temperature (EGT) is above normal can result in turbo bearing damage. With the engine stopped, there is no oil flow over the hot turbocharger wheel and bearing assembly, which causes burned oil residue ("coking") and eventual turbo failure.
That's the bad news. The good news is, you can prevent this from happening with the BD Cool Down Timer (CDT). All you do is simply set the shut down temperature, lock the doors and walk away. The engine will shut down at the temperature you have specified.
The Universal CDT works with any K-Type diesel engine. EGT probe commonly found in most analog pyrometer gauge kits. Just wire it to an existing EGT probe, or install a new one. If you don't have a thermocouple probe it is available as a selection.
